Auckland FC Crowned A-League Premier Plate Champions at Go Media Stadium

Auckland FC have been crowned the Premier Plate winners at Go Media Stadium in the final home match of their debut A-League season.

In a season of firsts, the Black Knights have written their name into the history books, becoming the first New Zealand team to win silverware in the Australasian league.

It has been a remarkable inaugural season for the Black Knights, who have turned Go Media Stadium into a fortress. AFC have lost just one of their 11 matches at their home ground, boasting the highest average attendance in the league with 18,801.

From the very first whistle, Aucklanders and football fans across the country took Auckland FC into their hearts. The club's first home match – a sellout against Brisbane Roar in October 2024 – set the tone for a season of unforgettable moments, including two more sold-out derby wins against Wellington Phoenix in December and February. The regular season was bookended perfectly with another sellout for their final home match of the season, with a full crowd joining in the Premier Plate celebrations.

The passion of the supporters in the South Stand has become iconic, leading the way for fans of all ages singing, chanting, and living every moment.

Aucklanders have quickly embraced AFC — something rarely seen with expansion clubs. In just a matter of months, attending an AFC match has become a regular family outing, with the club's electric atmosphere, thrilling football, and family-friendly experience making every matchday special.

Go Media Stadium’s onsite garden bar Lilyworld has established itself as a community hub for AFC fans, becoming a staple in the pre and post-match ritual. Lilyworld is a place to gather, celebrate, and soak up the Black Knights’ spirit before and after every match.

Tātaki Auckland Unlimited Director of Auckland Stadiums, James Parkinson says, "Huge congratulations to Auckland FC on their incredible breakthrough season. They have built something incredible from scratch in such a short space of time and our team have loved supporting them through this debut year.”

“Auckland FC’s impact on the sporting landscape of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland has been hugely significant  — economically, culturally, and in the hearts of their supporters. In a region rich with sporting pedigree, AFC has already written its own story. Now we look forward to seeing them go one step further, bringing the championship trophy to Auckland for the first time."
