Auckland Stadiums is proud to present Cinema at the Stadia, the biggest drive-in cinema in New Zealand!

For the first time ever, Mt Smart Stadium will be transformed into a drive-in cinema! You’ll be able to drive on the hallowed turf to watch the iconic Queen movie, Bohemian Rhapsody, just nine days before Queen + Adam Lambert arrive with their Bohemian Rhapsody tour.

If that wasn’t big enough, you will be watching the movie on New Zealand’s largest outdoor screen! The gigantic 212m2 crystal clear HD LED screen is the only true way to watch the multi-award winning biographic.

You will be able to enjoy this great evening from the comfort of your own car. Cars will be parked at the rear of the stadium field with larger cars parked at back. You will be able to pop the sun roof, the boot or jump on the bonnet to watch the movie. Each drive-in ticket includes popcorn and soft drinks for two people - free! One vehicle ticket per car.

About the film:

Bohemian Rhapsody is an enthralling celebration of Queen, their music, and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury, who defied stereotypes and convention to become one of history’s most beloved entertainers. Following Queen’s meteoric rise, their revolutionary sound and Freddie’s solo career, the film also chronicles the band’s reunion, and one of the greatest performances in rock history. Please note, this movie has an M rating and is not suitable for children.

Event Information

Relax and enjoy this great evening all from the comfort of your own car! Each Drive-in ticket includes popcorn and soft drinks for two people. There is a 4-person limit per vehicle permitted and larger vehicles will be parked at the rear of the field. Vehicles parked at the rear may be reversed in, boots will need to be tied down as not to obstruct view of those behind.

Vehicles need to be in the stadium and parked by 8pm.

Vehicles enter via Gate C (access from Beasley Ave).

The Box office located at Gate B will be open from 4pm on event day. General admission field and Queen concert tickets will be available for purchase.

You can bring your own bean bag, low seat or picnic blanket and grab a great spot on the grass.

Free parking available on site - enter the carpark via the Maurice Rd entrance.

  • Small handheld umbrellas. Please be considerate of patrons behind you. If your umbrella is obstructing the view of others, you will be asked to put it down.
  • Small quantities of home prepared foods such as baking, sandwiches or fruit
  • Guide Dogs.
  • Prams and strollers (Please note however that this movie is rate R16 with content not suitable for children).
  • Strictly no alcohol or illicit drugs. Please be aware that bags and vehicles entering the venue will be subject to a search.
  • Commercially prepared foods such as takeaways and soft drinks
  • Chilly bins
  • Cans, aluminium or glass containers, bottles or cutlery
  • Air horns or loud hailers
  • Animals (except for Guide Dogs)
  • Dangerous goods
  • Video cameras and recording devices such as Go Pros (cell phones are ok)
  • Face masks
  • Skateboards, rollerblades or scooters
  • Fireworks, flares or laser lights
  • Items that in the opinion of management/security could cause harm, nuisance or block the view of other patrons.

Security

  • Stadium management and its representatives reserve the right to request patrons to present any clothing, bags and other carried items for searching before you enter the Stadium.
  • All vehicles entering the field will be subject to a search.
  • If you refuse to present any of the requested items for searching, you may be denied entry.
  • Entry will be refused if a patron is intoxicated or under the influence of illicit substances.

Mt Smart Stadium is a SMOKE FREE venue. This includes the use of e-cigarettes and vaporisers. No smoking is allowed inside the stadium or in your car however if you go to the main gate you came in and you will be scanned in and out to the smoking area.

At Mt Smart Stadium you can enjoy a world class stadium experience.  The stadium and its facilities are here for the use and enjoyment of a variety of visitors, patrons and public users.  As such, there is an expectation that minimal standards of behaviour and presentation are adhered to by everyone to ensure an enjoyable environment for all.  To achieve this, we have the following conditions of entry that all visitors to the stadium are required to meet.

Dress Code

For safety reasons, footwear is to be worn at all times.

We do not permit gang patches or gang paraphernalia to be displayed.

Minors

Please be aware that this movie is rated M and includes strong adult themes therefore is not recommended for children under the age of 16. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Drugs and Alcohol Policy

  • Mt Smart Stadium complies with the Liquor Licensing Authority and prohibits the serving of alcohol to intoxicated or under-aged persons
  • Intoxicated or under-aged persons who are apprehended with alcohol will be escorted from the premises.
  • Mt Smart Stadium maintains a strict ‘no drugs’ policy, illicit drugs are prohibited and will be confiscated at the gate.  Any persons apprehended with drugs in their possession will be escorted from the premises. Incidents involving alcohol or drugs will be referred to the police where the situation requires it.
  • Please note that bringing your own alcohol is strictly prohibited and vehicles will be searched prior to entering the venue.

Lost, Stolen or Damaged Property

Stadium management takes no responsibility for any damage to, loss or theft of a patron’s personal property while on Stadium property.

Items of value recovered after an event will be taken to the Mt Wellington Police Station.

Behaviour

In order to ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone, Stadium management reserves the right to deny entry or remove attendees who exhibit unacceptable or disruptive behaviour.  There will be zero tolerance for intoxication.  Those who arrive at the gates intoxicated will be refused entry and patrons who become intoxicated will be removed from the venue.
