Below is all the important information you need to know to plan for a great evening at the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

  • We are expecting a large crowd. Plan your journey to the venue, allow plenty of time and allow time for security screening including wanding and bag searches.
  • There are bag size/type restrictions. Please refer to the below list of permitted/prohibited items.
  • There are no pass-outs for this event.
  •  Visit the Auckland Transport website or use the Journey Planner or AT Mobile app for more details and options on getting to the venue from your location. Travel on these services is included with your concert ticket.
    With KiwiRail's Rail Network Rebuild no underway, Penrose Staion is currently closed. Buses (with limited capacity) will replace trains for these services.

FAQ's

The official ticketing partner for this event is Ticketmaster. We cannot guarantee the validity or authenticity of any tickets purchases from 3rd party sellers such as Trade Me, Viagogo or private sales.

There is NO general public car parking available at the Stadium and streets within the immediate precinct of Mt Smart Stadium, and the Penrose railway station will be closed to support the safe and comfortable delivery of special event bus and train services. Some local businesses offer their premises for parking at a cost. Please note, if you park at a premise within the road closures exit may be delayed for up to an hour following the concert finish time. 

MOBILITY PARKING

Onsite mobility parking is limited therefore strictly only available for patrons who hold a valid mobility permit. To register for mobility parking please email bookings@aucklandstadiums.co.nz no later than Friday, 20 January  with your permit number to register and receive access information.

Note: Exit from the carpark may be delayed for up to an hour following the concert to ensure safe pedestrian movement.  

The show will go ahead rain or shine. Mt Smart is predominately an uncovered venue so please be prepared with a poncho or raincoat should wet weather be forecasted. Umbrellas are not permitted. 

Buses 

Free special event buses will be running approximately every 10 mins from the City Centre (120 Quay Street) to Mt Smart Stadium from 5pm until 7:30pm, and from O’Rourke Road to the City Centre after the concert 
Travel on scheduled bus services is included with your concert ticket from 3pm on Saturday until end of service. Show your ticket when you board. Go to AT.govt.nz/journey planner or use the AT Mobile app to plan your journey.  

There will be buses shuttling from Otahuhu Station to Penrose Station from 5pm, and from Penrose Station to Otahuhu Station after the concert. Mt Smart Stadium is approximately a 10 min walk from Penrose Station 

Trains 

Travel on train services is included with your concert ticket from 3pm on Saturday until end of service. Show your concert ticket at the manned gate and if asked on board by staff.  
There is work scheduled on sections of the rail network and rail replacement buses will operate: 

Southern line – buses will replace trains between Newmarket and Papakura

Onehunga line – buses will replace trains on the whole line 

Eastern line – buses will replace trains between Otahuhu and Manukau 

If traveling by train we recommend disembarking at Otahuhu Station, as Penrose Station is currently closed. There will be buses shuttling from Otahuhu Station to Penrose Station from 5pm, and from Penrose Station to Otahuhu Station after the concert. Mt Smart Stadium is approximately a 10 min walk from Penrose Station

A dedicated taxi drop off/pick-up will be available on Station Road   

There will be lots of people heading to the concert, and delays are expected in the surrounding areas so travel earlier if you can.

You and your possessions will be subject to a safety and security search upon entry. Items such as back packs (of any size), alcohol, selfie sticks, umbrellas, cameras with a lens larger than a watch face, Go Pros, iPads, furniture etc cannot be brought into the stadium. Confiscated items (i.e. alcohol, etc.) will not be stored, returned, replaced or reimbursed. Please refer to the list below.

Prohibited Items

  • Back Packs or Waist/Bum bags of any size
  • Commercially prepared foods such as takeaways and soft drinks
  • Chilly bins
  • Cans, aluminium or glass containers, bottles or cutlery (this includes bottles of perfume and empty drink bottles)
  • Alcohol or illicit drugs
  • Air horns or loud hailers
  • Furniture, chairs or stools
  • Prams or strollers
  • Animals (except for Assistance Dogs)
  • Dangerous goods
  • Spiked clothing or jewellery, chains, wallet chains
  • Video cameras and recording devices such as drones, iPads, tablets or Go Pros (cell phones are ok)
  • Cameras with a removable lens, a lens larger than a regular watch face or cameras which may be deemed to be for professional use
  • Selfie sticks
  • Costume/dress-up full-face masks and helmets
  • Large items that cannot be placed under the seat
  • Skateboards, rollerblades, bicycles or scooters
  • Fireworks, flares or laser lights
  • Large poles for flags that could be considered dangerous or view obstructing
  • Items that in the opinion of management/security could cause harm or nuisance to other patrons

If in doubt, please leave it at home. Stadium Management takes no responsibility for goods surrendered.

Items of value recovered after an event will be held at the stadium for 5 working days after which they will be handed into the Auckland Central Police Station.

Permitted Items

  • A small bag no larger than 210mm x 297mm (A4).  Back packs or Waist/Bum Bags of any size are not permitted for this show.
  • Sealed plastic bottle of water up to 750ml (lid will be removed and discarded on entry). No aluminium, hard polycarb, steel or glass water bottles will be permitted. 
  • Small quantities of home prepared food such as sandwiches, baking or fruit
     

Only a limited number of retail outlets will accept cash - these will be sign posted. Eftpos/Credit is recommended.

A range of catering outlets will be available along with bar service.  Accepted forms of ID are NZ Drivers Licence, Passport or 18+ Kiwi Access Card. If bar staff are unsure of your age and you cannot provide ID, you will not be served. 

Commercially prepared food and beverages such as takeaway meals or soft drinks are not permitted. Alcohol is strictly prohibited. 

Only a limited number of retail outlets will accept cash, so eftpos/credit is recommended. 

Bag/coat check is available at Gates B, C & E.  

NOTE: There can be a wait at the end of the evening to retrieve items from coat/bag check. Please ensure you retain your stubb to be issued your items.

Mt Smart Stadium is a totally SMOKE-FREE venue. This includes the use of e-cigarettes and vaporisers. Please be considerate of others.  

A temporary liquor ban will be enforced within the public areas surrounding the stadium from 6am on Saturday, 21 January to 6am Sunday, 22 January. The Police will be actively monitoring these public areas and enforcing this ban.   

Mt Smart Stadium is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable space for all patrons. If you feel unsafe or require assistance at any point during the event, you can contact our control centre by texting the word ‘assist’ followed by your location and message to the number 260.  

In order to ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone, Stadium management reserves the right to deny entry or remove attendees who exhibit unacceptable or disruptive behaviour. There will be zero tolerance for intoxication. Those who arrive at the gates intoxicated will be refused entry and patrons who become intoxicated will be removed from the venue.  Refunds will not be issued for patrons denied entry or removed during the show.

We are expecting a large crowd for this concert. Please be aware that the streets within the immediate precincts of Mt Smart Stadium and the Penrose railway station will be CLOSED to support the safe and comfortable delivery of special event bus and train services. Plan your journey and allow plenty of time. Please note that if you park on a street subject to a later closure or parking restrictions you will be delayed from exiting until the closure has lifted.

The box office will be open from midday (12:00pm) on the show day. It is located outside of Mt Smart Stadium Gate B.
