This Saturday Upper Harbour Local Board will officially open a new artificial turf at QBE Stadium Domain.
The day kicks off at 9.30am with junior football and rugby games in the morning, followed by senior football games in the afternoon. A sausage sizzle will be provided.

The turf, which is jointly owned by Auckland Council and Regional Facilities Auckland, is the first community-use synthetic field on the North Shore.
Upper Harbour Local Board funded the $2.4million upgrade, which includes the new artificial surface - a full size rugby and soccer field, drainage and floodlighting and a smaller training field.

Upper Harbour Local Board Chairperson Brian Neeson says the new turf will extend community playing hours in the area.
“Investment in sports and recreation is very important to Upper Harbour Local Board and this project is a great step to providing more playing options for our communities.”

The community will be able to use the field Monday to Friday, 5-9pm, Saturdays 8am-5pm and Sundays 11am-5pm. At other times the field is available for commercial bookings.

This project is part of Auckland Council’s Sports Field Capacity and Development programme, investing $190m into local sports field projects over ten years.
